T R A P E Z E Trapeze - Medussa (Threshold) 1970 1. "Black Cloud"
(6:10) I can't believe I actually found a used cd copy of this album. My interest in this band stems from the fact that this was Glen Hughes' pre-Deep Purple band. Also, future Judas Priest drummer Dave Holland makes his debut here. Muscially, "Medussa" was not really a heavy metal album, although probably heavier than much of what was out in 1970 save for Led Zeppelin. However, Trapeze sounds more like early Whitesnake or even Bad Company at their heaviest, but most often have a more bluesy, r&b sound going for them. Glen's vocals sound great, even this early on, but what really makes this album is the extended guitar jams in tracks like "Black Cloud" and "Seaful."
